The grant aims to support young fishermen by promoting competitiveness and attractiveness of the sector, particularly for young individuals, through support for starting their activity, facilitating their establishment. This initiative focuses on sustainable fishing practices and the restoration and conservation of aquatic biological resources.

• Acquisition of the fishing vessel, including equipment and fishing gear
• Expenses related to creating the own company, including business management consultancy, technical-economic studies, projects, and professional training directly related to the operation's purpose and objectives
• Capacity building in company management areas, including accounting matters; support for hiring a certified accountant for up to twelve months if opting for organized accounting

• Total budget for the grant: €2,980,000
• Co-financing percentage: 70%

• Candidates must be young fishermen, aged 40 or below, recognized with the skills to carry out professional fishing activity aboard a fishing vessel registered in a national port.
• Operations must involve a fishing vessel registered in Continental Portugal, licensed for fishing activities, not exceeding 24 meters in length, and equipped for professional fishing activities.
• The fishing vessel must have been registered in the fishing fleet for a maximum of 30 years before the year of application and at least three years before the year of application if it is a small-scale coastal fishing vessel, or at least five years for other types of vessels.
