Security of implementations of Post-Quantum Cryptography algorithms
Up to 6,000,000€
Descrição
The main goal of this opportunity is to strengthen the security of Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC) implementations against side-channel and fault attacks. It aims to develop PQC algorithms that are robust, balance security with performance and cost, and can be automatically evaluated for security. Key focus areas include analyzing new types of attacks (including those using AI), implementing effective countermeasures, and ensuring the resilience of PQC systems in real-world settings such as IoT, cloud computing, and automotive applications. The geographic scope covers legal entities in EU Member States, Associated Countries, and OECD countries, with restrictions on foreign control. This grant is part of the Horizon Europe Programme and supports research and innovation in cybersecurity.
Projetos Admissíveis
- Development of PQC algorithm implementations resistant to side-channel and fault attacks.
- Design of cost-effective countermeasures balancing security, performance, and hardware efficiency.
- Research on new or AI-enhanced attack vectors targeting PQC implementations.
- Design of automated testing tools for evaluating PQC implementation correctness and resistance.
- Recommendations and practical guidelines for deploying secure PQC in real-world systems.
Example projects:
- A research group in Germany develops new PQC algorithms with built-in resistance to AI-driven side-channel attacks.
- An IoT security company in France implements and tests automated tools for evaluating PQC security in smart home devices.
- A consortium of EU automotive firms collaborates to optimize PQC countermeasures for secure vehicle communications.
