Description

The grant aims to support small and mid-sized enterprises in low-density areas of the regions in Portugal by encouraging and strengthening their research, development, and innovation capabilities. This initiative focuses on improving competitive advantages and economic performance in low-density regions through innovation and technological adoption.

Type of Project

• Research and Industrial Development projects
• Developmental Experimental projects
• Projects aiming at introducing new products or improving existing ones

Eligibility Criteria

• Small to medium-sized enterprises and small-mid cap companies.
• Projects must align with the regional priorities identified within the framework of the RIS3 strategy.
• The project duration must not exceed 24 months except under exceptional circumstances that are justified and accepted by management.

Eligible Expenses

• Personnel costs including salaries for researchers and technicians involved in R&D activities.
• Costs related to procurement of raw materials and consumables necessary for the project.
• Expenses related to the acquisition of new equipment and technology for the project.

Examples of Eligible Projects to be Developed

• Development of new consumer products through industrial research
• Improvement of existing industrial processes using developmental experimentation
• Adoption of cutting-edge technologies to enhance product efficiency and sustainability

• Total budget for the grant: 9,000,000€
• Co-financing percentage: Up to 80%
• Minimum funding per company: 150.000€
