Description
The grant aims to support startups and small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in EU Member States and Horizon Europe Associated Countries by providing financial support to develop and scale up high-risk, high-impact innovations. This initiative focuses on driving the creation of new markets or transforming existing ones through technological breakthroughs and deep tech innovations.

Eligibility Criteria
- Applicant must be a startup or SME, potentially including spin-outs, established within an EU Member State or Horizon Europe Associated Country.
- Projects must focus on high-risk/high-impact innovations likely to create or transform markets.
- Applicants need sufficient financial stability or partners to co-finance the scaling up of the innovation.
Eligible Expenses
- Direct costs associated with technological development and innovation.
- Expenses related to achieving readiness for market deployment and scaling up.
- Costs linked to intellectual property acquisition and protection.
Examples of Eligible Projects to be developed
- Development and preliminary deployment of an innovative monoclonal antibody-based therapy for new virus variants.
- Establishment of a new value chain for renewable energy resources, including materials development and recycling.
- Scaling up a groundbreaking technology or product that significantly improves existing market solutions.
Financial Information
- Total budget for the grant: 634.000.000€
- Co-financing percentage: Maximum of 70% of total eligible costs
- Maximum funding per company: 2.500.000€
- Minimum funding per company: 500.000€
Stages of the process:
1. Short Proposal (Granter fee of 1.500€)
- 5-page proposal + 10-slide pitch + 3-minute video
- Continuously open with a response of up to 4 weeks
2. Full proposal (Granter fee of 3.500€ + 2% of success fee)
- Full 20-page proposal with annexes + Coaching by the European Commission
- Evaluation with projects of excellence, impact, risk and implementation
- Results in 5-6 weeks
- Last cut-off of 2024 on October 3rd
3. Interview with EIC jury:
- 10-minute pitch + 30-minute Q&A
- Funding decision in 2-3 weeks
