Description

The main goal of this opportunity is to advance software engineering for AI and generative AI, with a focus on developing bias-free algorithms and improving generative AI methods. It aims to define reference architectures for generative AI applications and make their development and operation easier. Key areas include reducing algorithm bias, improving explainability, ensuring energy efficiency, protecting against data and prompt manipulation, and fostering collaboration with EU-based chip designers. This opportunity is open to organizations in the EU, Iceland, Norway, and select associated countries, and targets research and innovation in AI, data, and robotics.

Admissible Projects

  • Projects must be led by legal entities established in eligible countries (EU Member States, Iceland, Norway, Canada, Israel, the Republic of Korea, New Zealand, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom).
  • Proposals must follow the required page limits and layout.
  • Projects must support the EU's strategic interests and avoid technological dependency on non-EU sources.
  • Proposals must meet evaluation and award criteria set by the program.
  • Each project should address at least one industry use case (e.g., automotive, health, energy, food/agriculture) and focus on bias-free, generative, or energy-efficient AI.
  • Collaboration with existing initiatives and sharing results with the European R&D community is encouraged.

Example projects:

  • Developing an explainable AI system for healthcare diagnostics that reduces algorithmic bias.
  • Creating energy-efficient generative AI models for automotive safety applications, in collaboration with European chip designers.
  • Building a secure AI platform for agricultural data analysis that protects against data poisoning and shares findings on the AI-on-demand platform.
