Description

The main goal of this opportunity is to support research that strengthens health systems to deliver fair, high-quality care and improve health outcomes for people affected by non-communicable diseases (NCDs). The focus is on reducing health disparities and promoting Universal Health Coverage, especially in low- and middle-income countries and disadvantaged groups in wealthier countries. Priority is given to projects that use evidence-based interventions, involve stakeholders, build capacity for early-career researchers, and address social factors that affect health. The initiative encourages transformation of health systems and the reduction of inequities in access, uptake, and effectiveness of care. Projects should also support sustainability and meaningful engagement of affected communities.

Admissible Projects

  • An urban health initiative in a high-income country targeting disadvantaged neighborhoods to reduce heart disease risk, with strong community engagement and support from social scientists.
  • A multi-country study using satellite data to improve access to cancer screening in remote regions, ensuring participation from both local stakeholders and early-career investigators.
