Description

The main goal of this opportunity is to boost civic and democratic participation among young people by supporting innovative research and new teaching methods in civic and citizenship education. It aims to improve young people’s civic knowledge, attitudes toward democracy, and engagement in their communities. The focus is on both formal and non-formal education, targeting youth aged 15–29, including those from disadvantaged backgrounds and considering gender-specific barriers. Projects are expected to develop and test new pedagogical tools and methods, and create practical guidelines for educators and policymakers. The geographic scope includes EU countries, associated countries, and certain non-EU countries with specific provisions for participation.

Admissible Projects

  • Must include a consortium with at least one education establishment or public body responsible for curricula or teacher training, and at least one civil society organization.
  • Proposals must follow page limit and layout requirements, with a maximum of 50 pages for Part B and a detailed budget table.
  • Costs are funded as a lump sum, following Horizon Europe guidelines.
  • Projects should focus on formal education, with added value from non-formal education, and address the 15–29 age group, including disadvantaged backgrounds and gender issues.
  • Must design, pilot, and test innovative methodologies for civic engagement, democratic debate, and tolerance.
  • Active involvement of education bodies, practitioners, and civil society organizations is required, with links to previous EU-funded projects.

Example Projects:

  • A partnership between a university, a local youth club, and a city council to develop and test a new civic education curriculum for secondary schools.
  • A project involving a teacher training institute and an arts organization to create workshops that foster democratic debate among young people from diverse backgrounds.
  • A collaboration between a technical college and a sports club to pilot innovative methods for increasing civic participation among disadvantaged youth.

  • Administrative and overhead costs related to project management
