Description

The main goal of this opportunity is to support the preparation of large-scale demonstrations of Connected, Cooperative, and Automated Mobility (CCAM) vehicles throughout Europe. It aims to bring together public and private stakeholders to create a solid plan for CCAM deployment and increase public understanding and acceptance. Key focus areas include engaging stakeholders from the entire transport and mobility sector, promoting public awareness, and ensuring that automated vehicle systems can work seamlessly across different regions and brands. The opportunity also encourages building on previous projects, refining demonstration methods, and addressing societal needs to foster trust and widespread adoption.

Admissible Projects

  • Prepare for large‑scale Connected, Cooperative & Automated Mobility (CCAM) demonstrations within the European context. 

  • Advance readiness on social, technical, economic, and regulatory fronts ahead of real-world CCAM trials.

  • Address challenges related to technology performance, public acceptance, demand, affordability, and accessibility.

  • Integrate multi-actor engagement, stakeholder coordination, governance models, and societal impact evaluation.

  • Include realistic simulation, scenario development, and operational readiness assessments to support demonstration planning.

  • Collaborate with the CCAM Partnership ecosystem, including industry, authorities, operators, and civic stakeholders.

Example projects:

  • A project that brings together city authorities, vehicle manufacturers, and technology providers to plan a demonstration of automated buses in several European cities.
  • A collaboration between logistics companies and software developers to test the interoperability of automated delivery vehicles across different countries.
  • An initiative that creates a public awareness campaign and stakeholder workshops to prepare for the rollout of CCAM vehicles in mixed traffic environments.

Note: All costs must fit within the lump sum model and be directly linked to the project objectives. Unrelated or non-essential expenses are not eligible.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Must be a consortium of at least three independent legal entities from three different eligible countries, with at least one partner from an EU Member State.
  • All participants must be established in EU Member States or Horizon-associated countries, and each must demonstrate financial and operational capacity per Horizon Europe Annex B and C requirements.
  • Project must align with the CCAM Partnership objectives, focusing on planning and preparing for large-scale Connected, Cooperative and Automated Mobility (CCAM) demonstrations.
  • It should engage key stakeholders including OEMs, suppliers, service providers, and end‑users, and deliver a comprehensive demonstration plan for fleet-scale CCAM deployment across Europe, while addressing social readiness and enabling industrial and societal uptake.
  • The project should include stakeholder engagement strategies, public awareness and trust-building actions, and deliverables that pave the way for future pilot projects.
  • Compliance with standard Horizon Europe ethics, integrity, exclusion and legal eligibility checks is required.
