Description

The main goal of this opportunity is to advance research and innovation in water security across Europe and beyond. It supports the development and uptake of innovative solutions for water-related challenges, especially those linked to climate adaptation and resilience. The initiative aims to strengthen international collaboration and align with key strategies like the European Green Deal and the water resilience strategy. Projects are expected to contribute to achieving water-related Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The geographic focus includes EU member states, associated countries, and some eligible non-EU countries.

Admissible Projects

  • Must be submitted by the coordinator of the consortium funded under HORIZON-CL6-2021-CLIMATE-01-02 and HORIZON-CL6-2023-CLIMATE-01-01: European Partnership Water Security for the Planet (Water4All).
  • May include additional partners in the proposal.
  • If using satellite-based earth observation, positioning, navigation, or timing data, must utilize Copernicus and/or Galileo/EGNOS services.
  • Must follow the admissibility conditions, including page limits and layout requirements set out in the Horizon Europe Work Programme General Annexes.

Examples:

  • A consortium led by the current Water4All coordinator proposes a project on climate-resilient water management, adding new partners from associated countries.
  • A project uses Copernicus satellite data to monitor drought impacts in European river basins.
  • A research partnership expands its team to include experts in water policy alignment with the European Green Deal.

Eligible Expenses

  • Personnel costs directly related to project activities
  • Equipment and infrastructure necessary for project implementation
  • Consumables and materials used in research and innovation
  • Travel and subsistence for project staff
  • Costs for dissemination and communication of project results
  • Subcontracting of specific tasks, if justified
  • Financial support to third parties in the form of grants
  • Costs related to the use of Copernicus and/or Galileo/EGNOS services
  • Project management and coordination expenses

Restrictions: Expenses must be justified in the application and reflected in the grant agreement. The funding rate is 30% of eligible costs. Financial support to third parties is capped at EUR 7,000,000 per third party unless a higher amount is justified.
