Description

The grant aims to support local public administrations and local business sectors in the Autonomous Region of Azores by promoting access to water and sustainable water management. This initiative focuses on optimizing and efficiently managing water resources and infrastructures to ensure quality service for the populations and the sustainability of the systems, aiming at controlling and reducing losses in water distribution and supply systems, improving wastewater treatment systems to reduce urban pollution in water bodies, and reducing and controlling leakages, collapses, and floods.

Type of Project

• Construction and rehabilitation of infrastructures for compliance with environmental standards (Water Supply for Human Consumption or AA and Wastewater Treatment or SAR)
• Construction and rehabilitation of water supply and sanitation infrastructures (AA and SAR)
• Support systems for management, digitization, and optimization of the water cycle

Eligibility Criteria

• Applicants must be Local Public Administration or Local Business Sector
• The operation's total cost must exceed €200,000
• Must comply with the Strategic Plan for Water Management in the Region of Azores 2022-2027 (PGRH-A) and the Regional Water Program (PRA)

Eligible Expenses

• Construction and qualification of infrastructures
• Systems to support management, digitization, and optimization of the water cycle
• Activities that reduce energy consumption or losses in water infrastructures by more than 20%

Examples of Eligible Projects to be developed

• Rehabilitation of water distribution networks to reduce leakages and energy consumption
• Upgrading of wastewater treatment facilities to reduce environmental pollution and energy use
• Implementation of digital management systems for real-time control and optimization of water cycle processes

• Co-financing percentage: 85%
• Minimum funding per company: 200,000€
