Description
The main goal of this opportunity is to strengthen the workforce needed for Europe’s clean energy transition. It aims to increase the number of skilled professionals, improve cooperation between public and private stakeholders, and promote energy efficiency careers. The focus is on skills and professions related to construction, building renovation, and integrating renewable energy sources. Efforts also target closing workforce gaps in energy efficiency identified by different countries. This grant covers all EU Member States, with specific attention to both countries with existing platforms and those needing new ones.
Admissible Projects
- Projects must focus on either supporting existing national skills platforms (Scope A) or (re)establishing new ones where they do not exist (Scope B).
- Projects should involve national experts and key stakeholders, including public authorities and private organizations.
- Proposals must show strong initial support from relevant national stakeholders through letters of support.
- Initiatives should build on existing national actions and maintain close cooperation with the BUILD UP Skills Community of Practice (to be launched in 2025).
- Only one national platform per country can be supported.
- Requested EU funding should generally not exceed EUR 1.5 million, though other amounts are possible.
Examples:
- A project in Spain continues the work of an existing national skills platform, coordinating training for energy-efficient building professionals.
- A proposal in Estonia brings together public authorities and industry to launch a new platform for renewable energy skills development.
- A team in Hungary expands their platform’s activities to address new gaps in the construction sector’s energy transition workforce.

Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants may be a single organization or a consortium from one eligible country.
- Only one national platform per country can be supported.
- The project must focus on either supporting an existing platform or establishing a new one.
- Proposals must demonstrate strong preliminary support from relevant national stakeholders, including public authorities, with letters of support.
- Projects must involve national experts and organizations active in the clean energy transition.
- Applicants must be from an EU Member State.
- Projects should cooperate with the BUILD UP Skills Community of Practice (to be launched in 2025).
