Description

The main goal of this opportunity is to support the effective implementation of sustainable energy policies, focusing on the Renewable Energy Directive (RED). It aims to foster the sharing of best practices, provide technical advice, and improve policy design, monitoring, and evaluation. Key focus areas include making permit processes for renewables faster, designating areas that accelerate renewable energy projects, addressing shortages in trained installers, and improving data quality and reporting. The opportunity encourages collaboration among public authorities and supports cross-country cooperation within eligible countries.

Admissible Projects

  • Support practical implementation of EU sustainable energy legislation (e.g., revised Energy Efficiency Directive, Renewable Energy Directive, Energy Performance of Buildings Directive)

  • Develop, implement, monitor, or enforce measures translating legislation into concrete actions

  • Help align Member States’ policies and instruments with EU legislative targets in energy and climate actions

  • Strengthen governance capacity of public & private sector actors for delivering sustainable energy policies

  • Promote awareness, stakeholder engagement, and behaviour change supportive of policy uptake

  • Monitor and evaluate legislation effectiveness via tools or pilot actions that include concrete implementation steps

  • Facilitate integration of sustainable energy legislation into national/regional programs and strategies 

  • Include communication and dissemination efforts to support policy uptake and public ownership

  • A project that creates a digital platform to simplify and speed up permits for solar and wind installations across three countries.
  • An initiative that develops training programs for renewable energy system installers in partnership with technical institutes and local governments.
  • A collaborative effort to standardize data collection and reporting on renewable energy progress among public authorities in different regions.
