Environment governance

The main goal of this opportunity is to support the shift towards a sustainable, circular, and climate-resilient economy. It focuses on creating a toxic-free environment and improving the quality of life by protecting, restoring, and enhancing the environment. The programme addresses key areas such as supporting public administrations in decision-making, ensuring environmental compliance, improving access to justice, and fostering behavioral change and awareness. Initiatives should align with the European Green Deal and recent environmental policies. The opportunity is open to eligible countries as defined in the call document.

• Projects must address the objectives of the Circular Economy and Quality of Life sub-programme.
• They should align with the specific priorities and topics outlined in the call.
• Applicants must comply with the admissibility conditions and eligible country requirements.
• Project proposals must adhere to the prescribed page limits and format.
• Projects should support activities like public administration decision-making, environmental compliance, access to justice, or behavioral change.

• A city-led initiative to promote recycling and reduce landfill waste.
• A campaign to raise public awareness about toxic substances in everyday products.
• A digital tool developed for local governments to monitor air and water quality.

• Budget for this Call: 4,000,000€

• Who can apply: Legal entities (public or private bodies, including NGOs, research institutes, SMEs, public authorities) established in one of the eligible countries—EU Member States, overseas territories, EEA or other LIFE‑associated countries. The coordinator must be based in an eligible country. 

• Consortium: Projects may be submitted by a single beneficiary or a consortium; a mandatory partnership is not required. 

• Call focus: Projects must target environmental governance, specifically:

  • Supporting public administrations' decision-making or voluntary approaches in public/private sectors.

  • Enhancing environmental compliance assurance and access to justice.

  • Promoting behavioural change and awareness-raising initiatives.
