Privacy-preserving human-AI dialogue systems – Participation in a technological challenge

The main goal of this opportunity is to develop advanced human-AI dialogue systems that prioritize privacy and are customized for defense applications. The initiative aims to strengthen the European Defence Technological and Industrial Base, promote technological independence, and ensure secure handling of sensitive data. Key focus areas include generative AI, large language models, and chatbots with strong multilingual and explainable AI capabilities. Projects should address the integration of these technologies into demonstrators for defense scenarios. The opportunity is open to entities from all EU Member States and eligible Associated Countries.

• Projects must develop multilingual written and spoken human-AI dialogue systems.
• Systems should be capable of handling classified information securely.
• Solutions must learn from users and provide explanations for their responses.
• Integration into demonstrators with user-friendly interfaces is required.

Examples:

• A project creating a multilingual chatbot for secure military communications, able to explain its reasoning to users.
• An AI assistant that learns from operational feedback and adapts its responses for mission planning in multiple languages.
• A voice-activated system for defense analysts, integrated into a demonstration platform and capable of managing classified information.

• Activities to create new knowledge relevant to defense applications

Restrictions: Expenses related to system prototyping, testing, qualification, certification, or improving efficiency across the life cycle of defense products are not eligible.
