Description

The main goal of this opportunity is to support the development of training systems that are interoperable for Multi-Domain Operations (MDO) in a multinational context. It aims to strengthen the European ecosystem for military simulation technology and create a roadmap for advanced training solutions. The focus is on enhancing training realism and efficiency, integrating advanced technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Extended Reality (XR), and promoting standardization and certification. The scope covers EU Member States and EDF Associated Countries, with an emphasis on collaboration with NATO and coalition forces.

Admissible Projects

  • Proposals must follow the specified page limit and layout in the application guidelines.
  • Activities should generate or improve knowledge in defence technologies, including disruptive ones.
  • Projects must aim to increase interoperability and resilience in defence technologies.
  • Feasibility studies for new or upgraded defence products and technologies are required.
  • Design and demonstration of technological innovations to improve training realism and efficiency are mandatory.
  • Projects must include evaluation of a representative multi-domain operations (MDO) training scenario in a multinational setting.

Example Projects:

  • Developing an AI-powered simulation platform that enables joint training between EU and NATO forces.
  • Conducting a feasibility study for integrating XR-based training modules into existing military systems.
  • Designing and testing a new interoperability protocol for live and virtual training systems used by multiple countries.

Eligible Expenses

  • Development of new defence technologies, including disruptive technologies
  • Activities to improve interoperability and resilience of defence systems
  • Feasibility studies for new or upgraded defence products and technologies
  • Design and prototyping of defence products, components, or technologies
  • Partial testing and risk reduction for innovative training solutions
  • Development of technologies or assets that improve efficiency throughout the defence product lifecycle
  • Equipment depreciation costs (subject to guidelines)
  • Total price requests for eligible activities (subject to guidelines)

Restrictions: All expenses must comply with the guidelines and restrictions specified in the call documents.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Applicants must be established in an EU Member State or an EDF Associated Country.
