The main goal of this opportunity is to accelerate climate adaptation efforts by supporting regional and local authorities in Europe. It aims to strengthen scientific knowledge and the use of climate risk assessments, helping authorities design effective adaptation plans. The initiative focuses on testing innovative adaptation solutions, especially in regions most affected by climate risks, and encourages collaboration between citizens, researchers, industry, and communities. The opportunity covers regional and local authorities in EU Member States and Horizon Europe Associated Countries, with a strong emphasis on participatory and inclusive approaches.

Admissible Projects

  • Projects must involve regional and local authorities in EU Member States or Horizon Europe Associated Countries, or entities acting on their behalf, not previously funded under the CLIMAAX project and not covering territories already included in CLIMAAX.
  • Proposals must provide financial support to at least 50 regional or local authorities for comprehensive climate risk assessments, with at least 60% of the requested EU contribution allocated to this support.
  • Projects must include sufficient resources and budget to work with relevant EU platforms and programs, such as the Mission Implementation Platform and Climate-ADAPT.
  • Proposals must follow a page limit of 70 pages and adhere to the required format.
  • Applicants must address geographical balance and inclusivity in the selection and support of third parties.
  • Collaborations with national hubs and relevant EU projects are required.
