Description

The main goal of this opportunity is to study how common spaces affect neighborhood communities, focusing on their design, aesthetics, and features. It aims to understand how these spaces influence behaviors like social interaction, civic participation, health, and the sense of belonging, as well as diversity, inclusion, security, and resilience. The opportunity also seeks to help stakeholders use these insights to shape policies and strategies for improving common spaces. Projects should support inclusiveness, social interaction, and the creation of safe, accessible, and attractive environments. Research must cover examples from at least three EU Member States or Associated Countries.

Admissible Projects

  • Projects must examine the impact of common spaces on communities, including their design and features.
  • Research must cover case studies in at least three different EU Member States or Associated Countries.

  • Projects must involve eligible countries as per the Horizon Europe guidelines.

  • Personnel costs for researchers and project staff

  • Subcontracting for expert analysis or specialized services
  • Costs for organizing workshops, focus groups, or community meetings
  • Dissemination and communication activities
  • Materials and supplies directly related to the project
  • Administrative and management expenses

All costs must be included in a single lump sum. Only expenses directly related to the project are eligible. Further restrictions may apply as described in the funding guidelines.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Must be a Research & Innovation Action (RIA) under Horizon Europe.
  • Consortium must include at least three independent legal entities from three different EU Member States or associated countries—one must be based in the EU.
  • All participants must demonstrate financial and operational capacity per General Annexes B & C.
  • Projects must analyze intergenerational fairness, addressing areas like education, employment, housing, healthcare, environment, and technology through demographic shifts.
  • Must produce evidence-based tools such as indicators, policy roadmaps, or pilot interventions—and use FAIR data and EU research infrastructures (e.g., EOSC, SHARE).
  • Standard Horizon Europe requirements on ethics, gender equality, data protection, conflict of interest, and legal compliance apply (General Annexes A–G).
