Description

The main goal of this opportunity is to explore and show how grassroots social entrepreneurship can help shape neighbourhoods that are sustainable, inclusive, and beautiful, following the values of the New European Bauhaus. It focuses on improving quality of life, fostering social cohesion, and creating new economic opportunities for local communities. Projects should address local social and environmental challenges while leveraging local expertise and building partnerships between public and private sectors. The scope covers at least three pilot projects in different EU Member States or Associated Countries, with support also available for some non-EU countries. The aim is to break down barriers to market uptake and encourage neighbourhood transformations that benefit everyone.

Admissible Projects

  • Projects must deliver at least three bottom-up social entrepreneurship pilots.
  • Pilots must take place in at least three different EU Member States or Associated Countries.
  • Projects should address local social, cultural, economic, financial, regulatory, and legal barriers and opportunities.
  • Each project should assess its business case and potential for impact and investment.
  • Projects should involve local expertise and promote public-private partnerships.

Examples:

  • A project launching community-led urban gardens in three cities across different countries, each tailored to local needs and regulations.
  • An initiative supporting local social enterprises to renovate public spaces, involving residents and local businesses in three neighbourhoods.
  • A pilot program creating job opportunities for vulnerable groups through sustainable construction projects in three Member States.

  • Personnel costs for project staff
  • Costs of materials and supplies used in pilots
  • Travel and accommodation for project activities
  • Subcontracting of specific tasks or services
  • Equipment purchase or rental needed for pilots
  • Costs for organizing local workshops or community events

  • Evaluation and impact assessment costs
  • Administrative and management costs related to the project
  • Other direct costs necessary for pilot implementation
