Description

The main goal of this opportunity is to develop new and innovative ways to build or renovate social and affordable housing. It aims to lower construction and renovation costs while maintaining high quality, making good housing more accessible to a wider range of people, especially those who are vulnerable. The opportunity focuses on reducing energy use, carbon emissions, and resource consumption, and on making homes more adaptable to climate change. Projects should also improve the well-being and inclusion of residents, use environmentally friendly practices, and respect local culture and architectural heritage. The geographic scope covers eligible countries in the European Union, associated countries, and certain non-EU countries that participate in Horizon Europe projects.

Admissible Projects

  • Projects must introduce innovative solutions for building new or renovating existing social and affordable housing.
  • They should include social care homes, elderly residences, or other inclusive housing with social welfare components.
  • Proposals must improve well-being, inclusion, and living conditions for residents.
  • Sustainable building practices and minimal disruption during renovations are essential.
  • Accessibility for all users must be ensured.
  • Projects must use participatory and cross-disciplinary methods, involve Social Sciences and Humanities (SSH) expertise, and allocate at least 0.2% of the budget to share results with the "New European Bauhaus hub for results and impact."

  • A renovation project for a social care home that uses eco-friendly materials and involves residents in design decisions.
  • Construction of affordable housing for elderly people, combining energy-efficient technologies and community spaces.
  • Upgrading an existing housing block to improve accessibility, reduce energy use, and create culturally sensitive communal areas.
