Description

The main goal of this opportunity is to boost the efficiency, safety, and sustainability of construction site operations. It aims to shorten the time needed for construction and demolition works, promote circular economy approaches such as re-use and recycling, and improve health and safety for workers. The focus is on developing interoperable technologies, improving product traceability, integrating sustainable practices, and reducing errors and accidents. The opportunity is open to organizations in EU countries and certain associated or eligible non-EU countries.

Admissible Projects

  • Develop technology solutions to improve operational efficiency on construction sites, enhancing speed, productivity, and safety, while aligning with Digital Twins and BIM tools

  • Improve traceability of construction products, from delivery to installation and removal, integrating better coordination with external operations

  • Incorporate circular economy approaches to reduce waste, prevent environmental impact, and recover construction materials

  • Implement strategies to minimize errors, accidents, and disruptions through better planning and coordination

  • Focus on human-centric design and social innovation mechanisms to facilitate tool adoption, and provide a clear business case and exploitation strategy for market uptake

Example projects:

  • Developing a digital platform to track and manage construction materials for better re-use and recycling.
  • Implementing a smart monitoring system to reduce workplace accidents and improve worker safety.
  • Creating interoperable software tools that integrate Building Information Modelling with on-site logistics to minimize delays and waste.

Eligible Expenses

  • Costs related to developing digital tools and technologies for construction site management
  • Expenses for integrating circular economy practices such as recycling and re-use systems
  • Costs for health and safety improvement measures for construction workers
  • Expenditures on interoperable platforms (e.g., Digital Twins, Building Information Modelling)
  • Costs for traceability solutions for construction products
  • Training expenses for workers on new technologies and safety protocols
  • Personnel costs directly involved in project activities
  • Subcontracting necessary for technical development or implementation
  • Purchase or leasing of equipment directly related to project objectives
  • Travel and dissemination costs related to project activities

Restrictions: All expenses must fit within the lump sum funding model and comply with the specific guidelines provided in the Horizon Europe Programme documents.
