Description

The main goal of this opportunity is to create a user-friendly information tool that maps and organizes the landscape of standardisation for research and innovation. It aims to help researchers, industry, and standard development organizations easily access and navigate standardisation deliverables at national, European, and international levels. The focus is on aligning standards with global frameworks, reducing duplicate efforts, and supporting the growth of new technologies. Special attention is given to improving the way research results are brought to market and ensuring their scalability. The geographic scope includes European Union countries, international partners such as Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Singapore, the USA, Canada, and India, and also supports Generative AI initiatives in Africa.

Admissible Projects

  • Develop an open-access digital platform that indexes national, European, and international standards for R&I stakeholders.
  • Create automated update mechanisms for the platform to ensure standards information remains current and accurate.
  • Map and consolidate fragmented standardisation data into a centralised, user-friendly search tool tailored for researchers and innovators.
  • Engage cross-sector experts (academia, industry, SDOs) to define key features, taxonomy, and data integration strategies for the tool.
  • Include policy and legal tagging to connect standards with relevant EU regulations (e.g., AI Act, Data Act).
  • Propose guidelines and models for integrating standardisation into research project planning and valorisation strategies.

Examples:

  • A project creating a web-based platform to search international and European standardisation documents.
  • An initiative developing a database to map standardisation efforts for Generative AI in Africa.
  • A collaboration between EU and Asian partners to harmonize technology standards and share best practices.

Eligible Expenses

  • Personnel costs for developing the information tool
  • Software and IT infrastructure expenses
  • Costs for organizing workshops and stakeholder meetings
  • Travel expenses for international cooperation activities
  • Consulting and expert fees related to standardisation
  • Communication and dissemination activities
  • Training and capacity-building expenses
  • Translation and localization of the tool for different regions
  • Project management and coordination costs

All expenses must fit within the lump sum funding model and directly relate to the project objectives.
