Description

The main goal of this opportunity is to support the development and maturity of critical space Electrical, Electronic, and Electromechanical (EEE) components within the EU and associated countries. It aims to reduce reliance on non-EU sources by building a sustainable and resilient supply chain for space technologies. The initiative focuses on enhancing EU strategic autonomy, providing unrestricted access to essential components for space missions, and opening new opportunities for manufacturers. Projects should address gaps in high-performance space requirements and help the EU operate independently in space. The geographic scope is limited to legal entities in EU Member States, Norway, and Iceland, with strict conditions for participation from other countries to protect EU interests.

Admissible Projects

  • Projects must be led by legal entities established in EU Member States, Norway, or Iceland.
  • The entire supply chain and final products must be free from non-EU export restrictions, such as ITAR or similar controls.
  • Proposals must include specific tasks and deliverables, such as a supply chain analysis, an industrial roadmap, and a commercialization plan.
  • Projects targeting a Technology Readiness Level (TRL) of 5 or higher must address applicable standards and provide a complete data pack for space qualification.

Examples:

  • A project to develop a new type of radiation-hardened microchip for satellites, ensuring all materials and processes are sourced within the EU and not subject to non-EU export controls.
  • An initiative to create a European supply chain for advanced power management systems used in space missions, including a detailed analysis of all suppliers and their compliance with EU regulations.
  • A consortium project to qualify and commercialize high-reliability connectors for spacecraft, with a roadmap for scaling production and ensuring independence from non-EU sources.
