Description
The main goal of this opportunity is to support the removal of landmines and unexploded ordnance (UXO) in civilian areas, and to improve risk education to help prevent injuries from these hazards. It aims to create modern, effective tools and training for practitioners, focusing on both technical solutions and public awareness. The program targets heavily mine-affected regions worldwide, with a strong emphasis on Ukraine and other countries in need of post-conflict recovery. Efforts also promote peace, security, and the social and economic rebuilding of affected communities.
Admissible Projects
- Consortium must include at least one international humanitarian demining organization.
- At least two local or regional NGOs active in humanitarian demining from at least three different EU Member States or Associated Countries, including Ukraine, are required.
- Mandatory participation of at least one entity from Ukraine with expertise in demining or UXO disposal.
- Projects must balance technological (demining) and societal (risk education) aspects.
- If using satellite-based services, applicants must use Copernicus and/or Galileo/EGNOS.
- Projects should include plans for demonstration, testing, or validation, and outline future scaling.
Examples:
- A partnership between a Ukrainian demining agency, a German NGO, and a Croatian technology firm to develop and test new mine detection equipment and educational materials for local schools.
- A consortium of organizations from Ukraine, Cyprus, and Armenia creating a training program for local communities on UXO risks, while piloting satellite-supported mapping tools.
- An international demining organization working with local partners in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Ukraine to validate new demining robots and deliver community awareness workshops.

Eligibility Criteria
- The project must be carried out by a consortium including at least one international humanitarian demining organization and two local or regional NGOs from at least three different EU Member States or Associated Countries, including Ukraine.
- At least one Ukrainian entity with expertise in demining or UXO disposal must participate.
- If using satellite-based data or services, the project must rely on Copernicus and/or Galileo/EGNOS systems (other systems may also be used).
- Applicants must adhere to the required proposal format and page limits.
- Proposals should not duplicate previous research and should include plans for demonstration or validation and future scaling.
