Description

The main goal of this opportunity is to advance precision medicine for brain disorders by developing a platform that enables better diagnosis and treatment across different conditions. The initiative focuses on adapting and expanding an existing data-sharing system, collecting new clinical information, and testing promising markers for diseases such as Alzheimer's, major depressive disorder, and obesity. Efforts will also be made to foster collaboration among healthcare professionals, regulators, and people with lived experience. The project aims to improve our understanding of central nervous system symptoms, enhance patient outcomes, and reduce stigma. This opportunity is open to organizations in the UK and Canada, with possible eligibility for others as described in the Horizon Europe guidelines.

Admissible Projects

  • Develop and expand a sustainable federated data platform integrating multimodal datasets and biological samples across neuropsychiatric, neurodegenerative, and physical health disorders
  • Collect and analyse data to identify and begin validation of novel transdiagnostic biomarkers for RM&I symptoms, focusing on Alzheimer’s, depression, and obesity
  • Enhance mechanistic understanding of RM&I to guide precision medicine development and drug discovery across multiple disorders
  • Foster cross-sector collaboration among patients, clinicians, regulators, and payers to align on clinical utility, regulatory readiness, and integration of validated markers into practice
  • Support EU health and AI policies, reduce stigma, improve patient outcomes, and drive cost-efficiency in healthcare through personalised treatment approaches

Example projects:

  • A research team in the UK collaborates with Canadian partners to enhance a shared data platform for Alzheimer's research.
  • A consortium uses an existing network to analyze depression data, ensuring ethical standards and inclusivity.
  • A project focuses on integrating obesity-related clinical data into a federated system, involving patient advocacy groups.
