Description

The main goal of this opportunity is to improve access to European spaceports and make them more attractive for European launch systems. It aims to raise awareness among stakeholders about best practices and technical challenges, and to develop common regulatory approaches for safe and sustainable launch operations. The opportunity also focuses on identifying benefits for the European space market, fostering international cooperation, and encouraging the development of new technologies for spaceport interoperability. Only organizations from EU Member States, Norway, Iceland, and other Associated Countries can participate. Thematic priorities include safety, technical standards, and stakeholder involvement in developing spaceport solutions.

Admissible Projects

  • Projects must involve legal entities from EU Member States, Norway, Iceland, or other Associated Countries.
  • If using satellite data or services, projects must use Copernicus and/or Galileo/EGNOS systems as a primary source.
  • Proposals must follow the required format and page limits as set by the Horizon Europe guidelines.
  • Applicants must show they have the financial and operational capacity to carry out the project.
  • Only one project will be selected for funding under this call.

  • A consortium of European spaceport operators collaborates to develop shared safety guidelines and interoperable launch procedures.
  • A project that assesses and proposes new technologies to improve coordination between different European spaceports.
  • A multi-country initiative involving industry and regulators to create a roadmap for sustainable spaceport operations using European satellite navigation systems.

Expenses are covered as a lump sum. Only costs directly linked to the project and following the Horizon Europe lump sum rules are eligible.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Applicants must be legal entities established in EU Member States, Norway, Iceland, or other Associated Countries.
  • Proposals with partners from outside EU Member States or Associated Countries are not elegible
  • If using satellite-based earth observation or navigation data, applicants must include Copernicus and/or Galileo/EGNOS systems in their project.
  • Applicants must demonstrate the ability to manage the project financially and operationally.
