Description

This incentive supports projects in the Algarve region that aim to conserve biodiversity, restore natural ecosystems, and improve the resilience of natural heritage. It is part of the Integrated Territorial Investments (ITI) for enhancing environmental sustainability and adapting to climate change.

Admissible Projects

  • Must directly contribute to nature conservation and ecosystem restoration.

  • Should be located within Natura 2000 sites, protected areas, or biodiversity-priority areas.

  • Projects must demonstrate alignment with regional or national conservation strategies, such as:

    • RN2000 Management Plans

    • National Strategy for Nature Conservation and Biodiversity (ENCNB)

    • Climate adaptation and ecosystem service preservation measures

Examples of admissible projects:

  • A project to restore a local wetland to enhance biodiversity.
  • An initiative to develop urban green spaces that reduce pollution.
  • A program to promote water conservation in coastal areas.

Eligible Expenses

  • Personnel directly involved in conservation actions

  • Equipment and materials for habitat restoration

  • Consultancy and technical support

  • Public awareness and environmental education activities

  • Monitoring tools and systems for biodiversity tracking

  • Indirect costs (7% fixed rate on eligible direct costs)

Financial Information

Total budget of the grant: €10,000,000

Co-financing rate: 60% (ERDF)

Maximum value per operation: €500,000

Minimum value per operation: €100,000

Eligibility Criteria

  • Eligible Entities:
    • Public and private non-profit entities, including:

      • Municipalities and Intermunicipal Communities

      • Environmental NGOs

      • Public agencies responsible for nature and conservation

      • Academic and research institutions

  • Projects must be implemented in the Algarve.

  • Maximum duration: 24 months.

  • Joint applications (consortia) are allowed and encouraged when relevant.
