Description
This opportunity aims to support the development and improvement of technological infrastructures essential for regional priorities. These infrastructures will help transfer and enhance knowledge, addressing local and sector challenges, market gaps, and business needs.
It targets both public and private institutions involved in technology demonstration and transfer, as well as managers of science parks and technology incubators, with a focus on promoting research, innovation, and economic growth.
Admissible Projects
Aim to create, upgrade, or expand technological infrastructures that support knowledge transfer and valorization.
Be promoted by one of the following entities:
- Technology and Innovation Centers (CTI)
- Collaborative Laboratories (CoLABs)
- Technology Transfer and Valorization Centers (CVTTs)
- Public or private non-profit institutions engaged in demonstration and tech transfer
- Managers of science parks or tech-based incubators
Be located in the Norte region
Focus on industrial research, experimental development, or applied innovation activities.
Examples of Admissible Projects

Building a new technology center dedicated to smart manufacturing and advanced materials in collaboration with local industry.

Expanding an existing tech incubator to include R&D labs and shared testing infrastructure for startups.

Upgrading a regional CoLAB to support pilot-scale innovation in clean energy or sustainable packaging.

Creating a digital interface platform within a science park to promote cross-sector collaboration and tech transfer between universities and companies.

Eligible Expenses

Construction Works – Infrastructure development, remodeling, or expansion of physical spaces supporting technology transfer and innovation.

Acquisition of Equipment and Technological Systems – Includes tools, machinery, IT and communication systems required for the qualification or requalification of the infrastructure.

Technical and Specialized Services – Architectural and engineering design, project supervision, technical support services directly tied to infrastructure implementation.

Digital Infrastructure – Systems that enhance data management, interconnectivity, and digital interfaces for knowledge transfer.

General Project Costs – Related to planning, design, licensing, and feasibility analysis.

Total budget for the grant: €25,000,000
Co-financing percentage: Up to 85%
Minimum funding per project: €400,000
Maximum funding per project: €4,000,000
Eligibility Criteria

Be a legal entity established in Portugal and located in the Norte region

Operate in one of the following categories:

Technology and Innovation Centers (CTI)

Collaborative Laboratories (CoLABs)

Technology Transfer and Valorization Centers (CVTTs)

Public or private non-profit R&I institutions engaged in demonstration, testing, and transfer of technology

Science and technology park managers or tech incubator operators with active innovation support missions

Have organized accounting and meet the necessary legal and financial conditions to receive public funding

Be in good standing with the Portuguese Tax Authority and Social Security

Have technical and financial capacity to execute the project and manage public co-financing
