Description

The main goal of this opportunity is to empower citizens to make informed choices about alternative protein sources produced using biotechnology. It focuses on improving education, communication, and access to clear information about the sustainability and health impacts of these new dietary options. The initiative aims to boost scientific knowledge, counter misinformation, and support educational interventions related to biotechnology in food. Projects should address the social, economic, and environmental effects of alternative proteins, while identifying new market opportunities. International cooperation is encouraged, especially between Europe and Africa, to promote a global shift toward sustainable food systems.

  • All data produced should be FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Re-usable).
  • Proposals must include Social Sciences and Humanities (SSH) disciplines for a human-centered approach.
  • Projects should connect with European research infrastructures and consider results from related initiatives.

  • A campaign using social media, workshops, and educational materials to inform the public about the health and sustainability benefits of plant-based proteins produced with biotechnology.
  • A school program that updates science curricula to include lessons on alternative proteins, involving teachers, students, and local food producers.
