Opportunity Description

The Interregional Innovation Investments (I3) instrument aims to foster collaboration among different EU regions in joint innovation projects. These projects focus on Strategic Smart Specialisation (S3) priorities and market proximity.

Project Type

• Experimentation of new approaches, solutions, and good practices for engaging in inter-regional innovation processes.
• Mobilization of regional innovation ecosystems, particularly SMEs, to participate in joint innovation initiatives.

Who Can Apply

• Entities based in EU regions, especially those from less developed regions.

Eligibility Criteria

• Businesses or organizations based in less developed regions of the EU.
• Entities with a demonstrated interest in enhancing their innovation capabilities and collaborating with other regions.

Eligible Expenses

• Costs related to research and development activities aimed at testing new innovation approaches.
• Expenses associated with the development and implementation of joint innovation projects with other EU regions.
