Description

The main goal of this opportunity is to support the testing of innovative solutions to address key social challenges in the Algarve Region. It focuses on promoting active inclusion, equal opportunities, non-discrimination, and participation, while improving employability for disadvantaged groups. Priority areas include Social Inclusion, Employment, Education, Health, and Justice. Projects should develop impactful and sustainable responses to pressing social problems and contribute to a results-oriented culture in public service delivery.

Admissible Projects

  • Projects must offer innovative approaches to social problems, differing from traditional solutions, and demonstrate potential for high impact and sustainability.
  • Applications must be submitted by partnerships that include at least one social investor and one implementing entity from the social economy or private sector, with no control relationship between them.
  • Eligible initiatives include new products, services, or processes that qualify as Social Innovation and Entrepreneurship Initiatives.
  • Projects must address one or more of the following areas: Social Inclusion, Employment, Education, Health, or Justice.
  • Proposals should provide measurable, results-oriented responses to public policy challenges within the Algarve Region

Examples:

  • A partnership launches a mentorship and job placement program for long-term unemployed youth in Algarve, combining digital tools and community engagement.
  • A social investor and a health-focused NGO develop a mobile clinic service to deliver preventive healthcare to underserved neighborhoods.
  • An education startup and a nonprofit collaborate to introduce innovative learning methods for children with disabilities in public schools.

Eligible Expenses

  • Personnel Costs: Salaries and benefits for internal staff and external consultants, including travel and accommodation when necessary.
  • Acquisition of Services: Fees for technical, evaluation, or other contracted services.
  • Acquisition of Goods and Equipment: Purchase or rental of equipment and movable goods.
  • Raw Materials and Components: Materials needed for project activities.
  • Rents, Leases, and Amortizations: Costs for renting facilities or equipment.
  • General Operating Costs: Utilities such as water, electricity, communications, and consumables.

All expenses must directly relate to project activities and be supported by documentation. Some expense categories may not exceed 30% of the total eligible project cost.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Applicants must be part of a partnership that includes at least one social investor and one implementing entity from the social economy or private sector, with no control relationship between them.
  • Eligible applicants may include social economy organizations, public entities, and private entities.
  • The project must address social problems affecting vulnerable or disadvantaged groups in the areas of Social Inclusion, Employment, Education, Health, or Justice.
  • Projects must propose innovative and sustainable solutions, distinct from traditional approaches.
  • Applications must be for operations located within the Algarve Region.
  • Partnerships are mandatory; individual applications are not accepted.
  • Operations must be aligned with the objectives and thematic areas specified for this funding.
